Meta is taking its AI assistant stack to business customers, and hired away a sitting CEO to run the new unit.
TechCrunch reports that Meta announced Monday it is launching Meta Enterprise Platform, a new initiative aimed at expanding the company's AI offerings to businesses and corporate customers. To lead it, Meta hired Chirantan "CJ" Desai away from his role as chief executive of database maker MongoDB. The new unit builds on the momentum of Muse, Meta's personal AI assistant launched earlier this month, and the company says it will bring its full stack, including Muse, Meta Business Agent, Muse API and Muse Code, to businesses and developers.
The move had an immediate market reaction: MongoDB's shares dropped by more than 17% on news of Desai's sudden departure. The database maker named Dev Ittycheria, who previously held the CEO role, as interim chief executive while its board searches for a permanent successor.
